The Non-resigned National Executive Committee of the ADC, of the African Democratic Congress, ADC, has said leaders like Atiku Abubakar, Peter Obi, and Rauf Aregbesola and others are welcomed into the party but must formally resign from previous parties.

The NEC said that the new entrants must also register as ADC members at ward levels in home states in line with the regulations of the Electoral Act 2022.

According to them, failure to comply with the rules, the politicians risk legal challenges that will undermine the coalition’s credibility.

The Non-resigned National Executive Committee of the ADC, called for calm among party members over the heated debate associated with the position of its National Chairmanship.

In a press briefing in Abuja on Monday, the party hailed its outgoing National Chairman, Chief Ralph Okey Nwosu, for what they described as his visionary leadership.

The NEC also affirmed Nafiu Bala, its former Deputy National Chairman, as the legitimate Acting National Chairman.

The party rejected what it described as unconstitutional takeover attempts, adding, “We denounce recent efforts to install parallel leadership.

“The purported ‘resignation letter’ of Nafiu Bala (dated May 18, 2025) is confirmed fraudulent, lacking official ADC letterhead and contradicted by Nwosu’s July 2 statement,” they said.

“We welcome leaders like Atiku Abubakar, Peter Obi, and Rauf Aregbesola and others but we emphasize formal resignation from previous parties must be documented.

“Registration at ward levels in home states is mandatory per the Electoral Act.

“Failure to comply risks legal challenges and undermines coalition credibility.

“Hon. Nafiu Bala will oversee daily operations and prepare for a National Convention within 90 days.

“We will seek INEC’s formal endorsement of Bala’s acting chairmanship and litigate counterfeit documents.

“It call on its members to report irregularities to the NWC Secretariat and pphold Article 9.5 which says that “No non-member shall hold office.”
