Former President Olusegun Obasanjo has criticized maverick entertainer, Charles Oputa, aka Charly Boy, describing him as “jaga jaga.”
Obasanjo, however, described Charly Boy’s father, Justice Oputa as a good man.
The former president, who spoke on Curiosity Made Me Ask by Isbaeu, explained why he initially disliked Charly Boy.
He said: “Can you see a gentleman who dresses like a woman? A gentle man who dresses like a bush man? Charly Boy is too jaga jaga but he has a good father. Justice Oputa was a great man, how I wish Charly boy resembled him.
“That man was one of the few Nigerians that I respected when he was alive.
“When I first got to know Charly Boy I had no iota of regard or respect for him, when I went to visit Justice Oputa and it was in Charly Boy’s house, I didn’t know it was his house.
‘The first thing that put me off in that house was a motorcycle in front of the house and when I went inside the house, I saw how Justice Oputa was being taken care of and by who? Charly Boy.
“So I started changing my mind about Charly Boy and until Oputa died, Charly Boy took perfect care of him and he really behaved like a good child.”
