THE Football Association have issued a hefty ban on a Championship player after he controversially kicked a bottle at the crowd.

The midfielder, 29, has been charged by the after he kicked the bottle.

It happened after Thomason was subbed off in the 65th minute with his side 2-0 down.

He let out his frustration on a bottle by the dugout and The FA have now issued a three-match ban.

The incident was not seen by match officials – with the player dodging disciplinary action at the time.

Sky Sports’ referee expert Dermot Gallagher branded the incident “so dangerous” and made the point that Thompson was lucky officials did not see.

In a statement today, The FA acknowledged that his behaviour was not seen by the officials but it was caught on video – leading them to the conclusion that it “constituted violent conduct”.

The FA also said that Thompson denied the charge “but an independent Regulatory Commission found it to be proven following a hearing”.

The midfielder will now be forced to serve a three-match ban.

After being ruled out of the opening three months of the season due to an ankle injury – the suspension comes as a fresh blow for Thompson.

Preston are currently in 17th place following a poor run of form in 2026 that has seen them tumble down the .
