GUGLIELMO VICARIO is set to undergo hernia surgery on Monday – meaning slip-up stopper Antonin Kinsky could be back in the sticks for Sunday’s crunch clash with Nottingham Forest.

Goalie Vicario, 29, was a shock omission from the Italy squad on Friday.
It then transpired why, with Spurs’ No1 to go under the knife on Monday to deal with the problem.

Tottenham hope Vicario will be back within the next month and have times the “minor procedure” so it has a little impact as possible on their relegation battle.

But it remains to be seen if he can play against Forest on Sunday, and if not, Tudor faces a choice whether to go with Kinsky again.

Kinsky, 23, infamously slipped over twice in the first quarter of an hour of the 5-2 defeat at Atletico Madrid last month, leading to two goals.

He was then brutally hooked on 17 minutes – though Tudor did later say he would have no issue playing the Czech again this term.

Tudor could also turn to rookie stopper Brandon Austin, who played a handful of games last term.

A Spurs statement confirmed: “We can confirm that Guglielmo Vicario will undergo surgery next week on a hernia.

“The minor procedure for the Italy international goalkeeper has been timed to have as minimal impact on our season as possible.

“Guglielmo will commence his rehabilitation with our medical staff immediately, and it is hoped that he could return to action within the next month.”
