FED up with soaring bills and eyewatering rental costs, Betty Cook decided to move into a touring caravan full-time with her one-year-old daughter.
Betty shares an insight into her life on TikTok, says her alternative lifestyle saves her money, and her caravan stays toasty, even in the winter months.

She told her followers that one of her favourite things about living in a was that her home was mortgage and rent-free.
“I pay for , , and food – and that’s it,” she said.
“I can do whatever I like with it,” she said, sharing a photo of her stylish living room, which she’d decorated in neutral tones.
Another plus side for Betty is that she never has to deal with pesky neighbours.
Whilst many on her are in awe of her life choices, some assumed that she must spend the winter months freezing.
“Is it hard in winter?” one follower asked her.
“No, it’s not, we have hot water, electric, and central heating,” she explained.
Another scoffed: “There’s a reason why bricks and water are so popular, enjoy the winter.”
But she corrected him and insisted that her caravan stays warm throughout the colder months.
On her post, one of her favourite things about caravan living was: “It gets warm and cosy so fast.”
HOME ON WHEELS
Some also assumed that she had to go to the toilet outside.
But Betty pointed out that she has a full bathroom with a shower, toilet, and running water.
Another plus side to living in a is that it takes less than an hour to clean the whole interior.
As well as saving on bills and general living expenses, Betty and her family never have to pay for hotels, as they can take their home everywhere they go.
Her house on wheels needed a fair bit of work when she first picked it up.
But for just £40, she revamped her living room and covered the original beige fabric sofas with a stylish sage green material.
One of her followers said that his time living in a caravan was the “best years of his life.”
“You don’t need all the stuff that a big house has to be happy. I loved it,” he said.
Another added: “If I had the courage, this is something I would do.”
I pay for car insurance, tax, and food – and that’s it.

Betty isn’t the only one to ditch bricks and mortar for portable living.
Jade Harris lives off-grid in a 25-year-old caravan on her friend’s land in Scotland.
The vet nurse shares life content under the username ‘Nature Bunny Girl’.
But followers are divided by her – while some were “jealous,” others described it as “desperate conditions.”
But Jade set the record on what it’s really like to throughout winter and recognised that it’s not as chilly as many may think.
She acknowledged: “Believe it or not, I’m actually nice and cosy warm with a diesel heater in this freezing cold that we’re having in Scotland at the moment.”
