BRITISH AIRWAYS has scrapped one of their popular long-haul routes from the UK
The airline will axe a major route between London Gatwick and New York (JFK) later this year.

British Airways currently has one flight a day from London Gatwick to New York , but come October 25 the route will be scrapped.
Only Delta and Norse Atlantic will then offer the route from Gatwick airport.
Instead, Brits will have to head to London Heathrow if they want to fly with BA, where there will be nine flights to New York each day.
Along with British Airways, Virgin Atlantic , American Airlines and Delta all operate flights to New York.
It comes as a number of airlines are cancelling flight routes to the US.
Norse is scrapping six routes from Europe to America, including its London Gatwick to Miami route.
There is some good news however as British Airways airline is increasing flights on some of its routes in summer 2026.
This includes to Thailand ‘s capital, Bangkok, which is often known as the world’s most visited city.
The route will now have year-round flights from London Gatwick, instead of flights just in the winter.
This means the will be airline operating six flights each week during the winter and adding 60,000 seats for passengers wanting to fly to Bangkok next summer.
British Airways also recently expanded its codeshare partnership with Bangkok Airways, which means passengers can now connect more easily to other destinations including Phuket.
There will be an additional weekly service to Kingston in Jamaica as well, increasing the total number per week to four for summer 2026.
As for America, some destinations will see increased flights.
A double-daily service from London Heathrow to Miami International Airport will be reintroduced and there will be a daily service to Dallas-Fort Worth will also be reintroduced.
Flights to Las Vegas from London Heathrow will increase from 10 to 13 per week.

And there will be 14 flights to San Diego and Austin each week.
British Airways will also operate a daily flight service from London Heathrow to Bahrain, in the Middle East – doubling the overall flights per week.
There will be five flights to Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, per week as well, and 14 per week to Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
Flights to Doha, Qatar , will increase too, to 14 times per week.
British Airways’ chief planning and strategy officer, Neil Chernoff, said: “We’re delighted to expand our long-haul network from London Heathrow and Gatwick next summer, adding more services to some of our most-loved destinations.
“Whether customers are travelling for business, leisure, or visiting loved ones, we hope they take advantage of these additional flights, which offer greater choice and convenience, making it easier than ever to connect with their favourite destinations around the world.”
Earlier this year the airline also announced new year-round routes to Rabat, Morocco and Graz , Austria from the 2025 winter season.
