With £51,000 owed in VAT and £47,000 in corporation tax outstanding after hard-up Callard and husband Jon McEwan repaid just £7,500 of the £114,000 they owed to the firm by way of directors loans (DLA) .
The ‘Notice of Final Account’ reporting: “The DLA’s were detailed on the Statement of Affairs with a book value of £114,124 and an uncertain estimated to realise value.
“After taking into consideration the directors’ financial position and the likely additional costs to be incurred in continuing to pursue this matter further, the Joint Liquidators accepted the sum of £7,500 in full and final settlement of the outstanding balance owed.
“This offer was deemed acceptable on the basis that, given the directors’ financial position, it was unlikely that any further recoveries would be possible and that the costs of continuing to pursue this matter would likely outweigh any potential further recoveries which would result in any benefit to the Company’s creditors.”
Despite being on the books, liquidators Parker Andrews also report that of the VAT and Corporation tax owed ‘no claim has been received.’
In addition to the tax debts, Callard’s firm owed £2,784 to ‘other creditors’ with all bills left unpaid, with liquidators reporting: “insufficient funds have been realised to enable a distribution to any class of creditor”.
Liquidators also left out of pocket by the creditors voluntary liquidation.
With just £7,657 of the £33,164 in liquidation costs paid. The final payment made in the last liquidation period, which concluded in October 2025.
Liquidators reporting: “Due to lack of realisations in this matter, the balance in hand of £1,454.82 plus VAT has been drawn in respect of the above outstanding remuneration. No further fees will be recoverable.”
– now starring in Irish soap – played barmaid Liz McDonald in the long-running soap from 1989 until 2020, opened up about stepping away from the show in 2023.
Speaking on the podcast How to be 60, Bev explained what kept her there for so long and what changed.
She said: “I just felt that the scripts weren’t what they used to be. I’m trying to be diplomatic.”
The hosts then asked if she managed to leave before she became miserable and unmotivated by the job.
She said: “I wasn’t miserable; it’s difficult to put into words. But years ago, we used to get the scripts, and you’d open them and think, ‘Oh my goodness, this is amazing. I cannot believe I’m going to be filming this!’ and then for me, well, first of all, they didn’t write for me as much because I was older, and that really got to me.”
She appeared on I’m A Celebrity in 2020 and was reportedly paid £125,000 for the show.
Bev’s agent and Fair City makers RTE have been contacted multiple times for comment.
