At least four people were killed and three others injured when armed bandits attacked Baidi village, a remote hamlet in Tangaza Local Government Area, LGA of Sokoto State.
A security expert, Zagazola Makama, disclosed this in a report he posted on his official X handle.
He said the incident occurred around 9:30 pm Thursday, when a large group of Lakurwa bandits, reportedly armed with sophisticated weapons, stormed the village, located along the border with the Niger Republic.
Makama disclosed that communication blackout in the area delayed immediate reporting of the attack.
Troops of Operation FANSAN YANMA, Police units and the Sokoto Community Guard Corps were mobilized to the scene. The bodies of the dead, as well as injured victims, were evacuated to a hospital for autopsy and medical treatment.
Security forces are currently combing the area to track and apprehend the perpetrators, while confidence-building patrols continue to reassure residents and prevent further attacks.
