The Kano State Police Command, in partnership with other security agencies in the region, has reaffirmed the enforcement of the existing ban on transporting passengers on all types of motorcycles and the restriction of commercial tricycles from operating between 10:00 PM and 6:00 AM daily throughout the state.

The spokesperson for the Command, CSP Abdullahi Kiyawa, stated that the regulations supporting these bans, as previously announced by the Kano State Government, remain in effect across Kano Municipal, Gwale, Dala, Fagge, Nassarawa, Tarauni, Kumbotso, Ungogo (Jido Area), and Dawakin Kudu (Tambuwal, Gurjiya, and Jido Ward).

He further mentioned that the enforcement team is authorized to effectively profile individuals who blatantly violate the ban and restriction, as well as assist in mitigating the spread of unverified and misleading information that could create fear and confusion among the public.

Kiyawa reminded the public, especially operators of motorcycles and commercial tricycles, that these measures are intended to improve public safety and security across the state. He warned that anyone found operating motorcycles or tricycles in violation of the ban or restriction will be swiftly arrested and prosecuted in accordance with the law.

“The Commissioner of Police, CP Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, PhD, encourages all residents to adhere to these regulations and cooperate with law enforcement agencies in maintaining peace and order in Kano State. Furthermore, the public is urged to report any violations or suspicious activities to the nearest police station.

“This security partnership, which also involves the services of the Kano Road and Traffic Agency (KAROTA), will implement necessary measures to ensure full compliance with these directives for the safety and security of all residents.
