Human rights advocate and public commentator, Mahdi Shehu, has cautioned that the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) may soon experience the same downfall that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) faced, asserting that power built on arrogance and injustice cannot endure indefinitely.

Shehu expressed this opinion on Tuesday morning via his official X account.

He drew a stark comparison between the PDP’s loss of power after 16 years and what he perceives as the APC’s increasing disregard for the Nigerian populace.

In his words, “Whatever rises must eventually fall. Just as the PDP ascended and subsequently fell due to its pride and betrayal, the APC is now treading the same path.”

He reminisced about how the former PDP National Chairman, Vincent Ogbulafor, once claimed in 2008 that the PDP would govern Nigeria for 60 years, yet the party ultimately crumbled under its own burden.

“God revealed to them who genuinely holds power. The same fate awaits the APC if they do not amend their ways,” he added.

Mahdi Shehu criticized the APC for undermining institutions, intimidating citizens, and taking the nation for granted.

He warned that such arrogance inevitably leads to disgrace.

Quoting the Bible, he stated, “Psalm 37:10 says, ‘A little while, and the wicked will be no more; though you look for them, they will not be found.’”
