The National Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Ajibola Bashiru, has asserted that no opposition can mislead the ruling party with allegations that it intends to establish a one-party state in Nigeria.
Bashiru made this statement while announcing that the APC aims to incorporate all senators and members of the House of Representatives into the party.
He revealed this during the APC Stakeholders Forum held in Lagos yesterday, where the state chapter of the party endorsed President Bola Tinubu for a second term.
According to Bashiru: “Some individuals are attempting to mislead our party, claiming that we are heading towards a one-party state in Nigeria, while simultaneously asserting that they wish to oust our leader from Aso Rock Villa. This is inherently contradictory.
“We must not permit anyone to mislead us. Let it be known that all the seats in the Senate are occupied by APC members; 360 should belong to the APC; and all State Houses of Assembly should also be APC. This is part of democracy.
“We must persist in mobilizing, educating, and raising awareness to ensure that the APC remains a stronghold for electoral success in all upcoming elections.”
