TEAM GB star Amy Hunt took a swipe at Sydney Sweeney live on TV after the Hollywood actress sparked controversy with her NAKED sports advert.

The British sprint sensation had just finished fourth in the 200m final at the inaugural World Ultimate Championship in Budapest when she used her post-race interview to make her feelings known.

Hunt clocked a season’s best 22.10sec as American Melissa Jefferson-Wooden won in a stunning 21.47.

Looking straight down the camera, Hunt said: “Sydney Sweeney, this is what women’s sport looks like!”

And the 24-year-old, who won the European 200m title in Birmingham last month, added: “Hard work, sweat, blood, tears. This is a beautiful evening.”

Hunt’s message was aimed at Sweeney after the Euphoria actress stripped off for a new campaign promoting sports prediction platform Novig, using various balls and pieces of sporting equipment to cover herself.

The eye-catching commercial has triggered a fierce debate over the sexualisation of women in sport and Hunt is not the only athlete to have taken issue with it.

Australian Olympic water polo star Tilly Kearns wrote on Instagram that she “absolutely f****** hate[d]” Sweeney’s new sports advert before sharing footage of athletes competing and branding it “real women’s sports content”.

Former Olympic runner Hannah Williams also joined the criticism on social media, posting footage of female sprinters and telling Sweeney: “This is women in sports btw”, while arguing female competitors already battle to be taken seriously.

But Sweeney has hit back at the backlash by sharing images on her Instagram Stories of sporting superstars who have previously stripped off for photoshoots, including , , Sue Bird and Megan Rapinoe.

Novig chief Jacob Fortinsky also told Front Office Sports that Sweeney had been attracted to the company because of its focus on sport.

Fortinsky claimed Sweeney had complained about rival prediction platforms offering markets on personal subjects such as “what colour underwear I’m going to wear”.

Sweeney is not simply the face of Novig either, with the 29-year-old holding an equity stake and becoming a strategic partner in the company while also being closely involved in creating the campaign.

But after battling some of the fastest women on the planet in Budapest, Hunt made sure her own message was heard – using the live TV spotlight to tell Sweeney exactly what she believes women’s sport really looks like.
