Nigeria’s electricity Band A users in the Jahi and Gwarimpa areas of Abuja have continued to suffer prolonged outages despite paying premium rates.

DAILY POST reports that for several days, the affected areas under Gwarimpa AT2 Feeder of Abuja Electricity Distribution Company, AEDC, have continued to experience blackouts.

AEDC, in a notice on Tuesday, said the outage was caused by the failure of critical equipment within the transmission network operated by the Transmission Company of Nigeria, TCN.

The disco apologized to users for the prolonged outage, assuring them that efforts to resolve the challenge are underway.

“We sincerely apologize for the prolonged power outage experienced by customers served by the Gwarinpa AT2 Feeder.

“We understand the inconvenience, disruption, and frustration this extended outage has caused to homes, businesses, and daily activities,” AEDC stated.

DAILY POST reports that Nigerians have continued to face epileptic electricity supply decades after the privatization of the power sector.

In April 2024, electricity tariffs were increased by 300 percent for Band A customers.
