The Abuja Electricity Distribution Company, AEDC, has announced a power outage in parts of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, due to a scheduled maintenance exercise by the Transmission Company of Nigeria, TCN.

In a notice issued on Wednesday via its official X handle, AEDC said TCN is carrying out maintenance on transformers TR1 and TR2 at the Kukwaba Transmission Substation on Tuesday, February 4, 2026.

According to the electricity distribution company, the maintenance work, which is expected to be concluded by 2:00 pm, is aimed at improving service reliability and enhancing power supply to affected communities.

Areas impacted by the outage include the Wuye and Utako districts, CITEC Estate, Idu Industrial Area, Coca-Cola, PESI, FMC, EFCC, Nile University, Zhidu Community, Fafu Estate, and surrounding locations.

AEDC expressed regret over any inconvenience the planned maintenance may cause.

“Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) is currently carrying out a maintenance exercise on the transformers TR1 and TR2 at the Kukwaba Transmission Substation today, 4th February 2026.

“This maintenance exercise, which will be concluded at 2:00 pm, is part of our continued efforts to enhance service reliability and improve power supply to your community,” the notice added.
