Former Rivers State Governor, Rotimi Amaechi, has shared his insights into addressing the security crisis that plagued the state during his administration.
Amaechi, who is pursuing the presidential nomination of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in anticipation of the 2027 election, stated that when his administration took office, Port Harcourt, the capital of Rivers State, was overwhelmed by criminal activities.
In a video clip posted on his Facebook page on Thursday, Amaechi informed various stakeholders that economic activities in Port Harcourt had been severely impacted but were revitalized by his administration within six months.
The former governor expressed that his experiences provide him with a unique advantage over other candidates in the opposition party.
He remarked, “I served as governor in a state where people were being murdered and abducted. Robberies were rampant, and residents couldn’t venture outdoors in Port Harcourt.
“Social gatherings were nonexistent, and hospitals were in disarray. The only form of entertainment for men was their families, but six months after we took office, we expelled the criminals.
“We encouraged people to return to work and social events and to engage in whatever activities they desired. Therefore, I am the only candidate from the party who not only brings experience but has also governed in a state that faced similar challenges to those we are encountering now.”
