The Lagos State chapter of the All Progressives Congress, APC, has dismissed as laughable former Minister of Transportation Rotimi Amaechi’s claim that he could defeat President Bola Ahmed Tinubu if given the presidential ticket of the African Democratic Congress, ADC.

In a statement issued on Saturday, the party described Amaechi’s remarks as “the desperate outburst of a political has-been seeking relevance,” insisting he lacked the pedigree, political network, and nationwide support to challenge the president.

“The notion that he could unseat a sitting president-elected with a clear mandate and respected across all regions, on the platform of a fringe party like the ADC is not only unrealistic but also absurd,” the statement read.

The Lagos APC accused the former Rivers State governor of political inconsistency, alleging that he failed to secure victory even in his own polling unit during the last election. It also dismissed his claim of knowing Tinubu’s “weaknesses” as an expression of resentment stemming from a turbulent political career.

“While President Tinubu has built leaders, strengthened institutions, and left behind a track record of performance, Amaechi’s political journey has been marked by internal wrangling, disloyalty, and self-serving ambitions,” the party said.
