Alan Shearer is wild with celebration as Newcastle win the Carabao Cup

ALAN SHEARER knows a thing or two about how to win the Premier League, and he’s predicted which team he thinks will get their hands on the trophy this season.

Shearer, 54, is the league’s all-time top scorer and became a Premier League champion with Blackburn in 1994 – now he’s used those expertise to have a crack at what fans can expect this term.

Speaking to Betfair , Shearer has predicted where every Prem club will finish in the table – throwing up some surprises along the way.

The England legend reckons Liverpool will keep hold of their crown as champions after their big-money summer.

The Reds cruised to the title last season and after bringing in the likes of Florian Wirtz , Hugo Ekitike , Jeremie Frimpong and Milos Kerkez , Shearer has backed them to do the same again.

It’s bad news for Arsenal as Shearer reckons they will extend an unwanted record by becoming the first Prem team to log four consecutive second place finishes – despite the signing of Viktor Gyokeres .

There’s no surprises for the rest of the top five, with Shearer backing a repeat of last season with Man City in third, Chelsea taking fourth and his beloved Newcastle snatching fifth spot as they balance Champions League football with the Premier League.

The first big surprise comes with the striker’s prediction that Manchester United will shoot up some NINE PLACES after their summer business.

Shearer has tipped United to finish in sixth spot after their dismal efforts last term saw them end up in 15th place.

The 63-time England international clearly thinks that Ruben Amorim ‘s side will be a team transformed after splashing £207MILLION on a new-look attack.

The arrivals of Benjamin Sesko , Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo are enough to make Shearer think United will return to European football.

He thinks Tottenham will be massively improved too, suggesting they will climb up to eighth after finishing 17th last season under the guidance of Thomas Frank .

Down towards the bottom of the table Shearer has hedged his bets on Brentford narrowly avoiding the drop with a 17th place finish after a huge summer of change at the G-tech.

The Bees lost manager Frank to Tottenham, star man Mbeumo to Man Utd and Captain Christian Norgaard to Arsenal.

New boss Keith Andrews has never managed before and things could get even worse for Brentford with Yoane Wissa still pushing for an exit before the window shuts .

Fortunately for Andrews’ side, Shearer thinks all three promoted sides are too weak to survive, predicting them all to drop straight back down to the Championship.

The Match of the Day pundit has predicted Leeds to finish 18th, Sunderland 19th and Burnley to prop up the rest of the table in last place.

The Premier League will return in less than a week after a long summer of anticipation.
