Former presidential media aide, Bashir Ahmad has expressed sadness over a reported move by another Kano State Governor, Kabiru Ibrahim Gaya to join the African Democratic Congress, ADC.
Bashir had after Rabiu Kwankwaso’s defection to the ADC, APC in Kano State.
In a post on his official X handle on Tuesday night, Bashir said while the ruling party was preparing to welcome a former governor of the state, Malam Ibrahim Shekarau into the party, Ibrahim Gayab is on his way to ADC.
Bashir noted that he wished Gaya remained with the ruling party, to strengthen the APC ahead of 2027.
He wrote, “As we prepare to welcome former Kano State Governor, Malam Ibrahim Shekarau into our fold, it is unfortunate to hear reports from Kano that Sen. Kabiru Ibrahim Gaya, another former Governor of the state, has decided to decamp the ADC.
“While I utmostly respect his decision, I had sincerely hoped he would remain with us as we continue to strengthen our base”.
