Bafana Bafana head coach, Hugo Broos, has announced his preliminary squad for South Africa’s 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Lesotho and Nigeria.

Broos named 48 players in the preliminary squad, which was posted on the official X account of the South African Football Association, SAFA, on Thursday.

Top on the list are experienced goalkeeper Ronwen Williams, highly rated midfielder Teboho Mokoena, Evidence Makgopa, and Mihlali Mayambela.

Nigerian-born defender Ime Okon, who plays for German club Hannover, was also included in the squad alongside Themba Zwane.

Broos is expected to trim the list before his team opens camp for both games next weekend.

Bafana Bafana will travel to Lesotho to face them at the Free State Stadium, Bloemfontein, on Friday, September 5.

They will then host the Super Eagles four days later at the Toyota Stadium, Bloemfontein.
