Even women who have come a cropper persist in wearing them again and again.
Cornwall mum Alison Rose, 51, needed six weeks’ physio after falling on concrete steps while rushing to get to an important school meeting.
She said: “I was running late and wearing heels, I was carrying two bags, when I felt my foot get tangled.
“Before I knew it, I had faceplanted, covered in blood. I smashed my knee, causing severe bruising. I also severely bruised my shoulder.”
But undeterred, she added: “They are beautiful trousers. I’ve had mine hemmed and will never wear heels with them again.
“I refuse to give them up. They hide my lumps and bumps without a designer price tag.”
Zara was contacted for comment but did not reply.
