Major General E.F. Oyinlola, the General Officer Commanding (GOC) of the 3rd Division of the Nigerian Army in Jos, Plateau State, and Commander of the Joint Task Force Operation Enduring Peace (OPEP), has promised maximum protection to the outspoken clergyman Rev. Ezekiel Dachomo. This assurance comes after the cleric reported receiving death threats due to his stance on the alleged killings of Christians in the state.

The man of God has shared several videos on his Facebook page, revealing that he has been receiving calls and messages from individuals threatening his life because of his advocacy.

In one of the messages he posted, Rev. Dachomo stated: “They have been threatening me everywhere, even on social media. They even promised to kill me during mass burials. They did the same to Senator Gyang Dantong, who was killed during a burial. They have vowed to take my life. Even the Nigerian Army issued a press release against me, accusing me of inciting people. However, they are the ones inciting Muslims against us by refusing to make arrests.”

In another statement, Rev. Dachomo emphasized that despite receiving numerous death threats through phone calls and messages, he is not afraid of dying and will continue to speak out against injustice and defend his community.

The cleric's claims were further supported by the Anonymous Group, a decentralized international online collective recognized for its “hacktivism.” They posted on their Facebook page warning that some Islamic extremists and bandits have targeted Rev. Dachomo for assassination due to his consistent videos exposing the killings of Christians in Plateau State.

“Photos of Pastor Dachomo Bwede Ezekiel, a man of God, have been circulated among Islamic terrorists and bandits in the region. They have issued orders to assassinate him within the next seven days, believing he is responsible for Trump's intervention. The militants are enraged that their livelihoods and lives are now at risk, allegedly due to this man. The instructions are ‘Kill him and cut off his head.’

“Please circulate this message to ensure it reaches the family and Pastor Ezekiel. This is an emergency. Share this with all your friends and relatives in these areas! This must not happen! This is another potential bloodbath! People could be burned and brutally slaughtered! We must prevent this! Do everything within your power to thwart this plan! We sincerely plead,” the group stated.

During a worship service on Sunday at the Church of Christ in Nations (COCIN) in Barkin Ladi, where Rev. Dachomo serves as the Regional Chairman, Gen. Oyinlola reaffirmed that no harm will come to him or any Christians in the state going forward. The GOC also assured that all branches of the Nigerian military are prepared to collaborate to eliminate violence and killings in the region.

He mentioned that he personally visited the church to engage with Rev. Dachomo and commend him for his courageous efforts to highlight the killings in the state, despite the risks to his life and his family's safety.

The general expressed that his admiration and respect for the clergyman have grown to the extent that he chose to worship outside Maxwell Khobe Barracks for the first time, to personally reassure Rev. Dachomo that he would remain safe.
