The representative for the Kiru/Bebeji Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Abdulmumin Jibrin, has left the NNPP and announced his return to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
He has expressed his full support for President Bola Tinubu’s re-election campaign for 2027.
In a post on his Facebook page on Monday, Jibrin shared that his supporters had collectively decided to leave the NNPP and the Kwankwasiyya Movement to join the ruling APC.
He stated, “Today, as a demonstration of solidarity, I was warmly welcomed by thousands of my constituents in my hometown of Kofa, Bebeji, Kano.”
The assembly, he noted, resolved to depart from the NNPP/Kwankwasiyya, join the APC, and endorse President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, for a second term in the 2027 general elections.
He mentioned that since the beginning, nearly 2,000 scholars from his constituency have offered special prayers for the President, seeking peace, development, and progress for Kiru/Bebeji, Kano, and Nigeria as a whole.
Two months prior, Jibrin had resigned from the NNPP following his expulsion due to alleged anti-party activities and non-payment of dues, paving the way for his return to the APC.
In response to his suspension from the NNPP, Jibrin described the decision as “surprising and unwarranted,” asserting that an interview he conducted in both English and Hausa, which the party cited as the reason for his suspension, did not justify his expulsion.
He accused the NNPP of violating the principles of fair hearing and due process, emphasizing that he was expelled without being given a chance to defend himself.
Jibrin stated that he accepted the decision in good faith and would not pursue legal action against it.
The lawmaker clarified that he had always fulfilled his obligations concerning claims of defaulting on his membership dues.
