Locals were backed up for almost an hour after the massive vehicle carrying players and staff stranded itself while turning into the team’s pre-match training complex.

The back portion of the bus was jutting out onto the two-lane highway, forcing Mexican authorities to cordon it off.

Footage has circulated of the huge tailbacks that built up while people tried to get the bus moving again.

But it took nearly 60 excruciating minutes before the waiting cars, bikes, vans and lorries were allowed to continue on their journeys.

The Czech team eventually gave up waiting and walked the rest of the way into the training ground.

Miroslav Koubek’s men are in Zapopan ahead of their opener against at the nearby Guadalajara Stadium.

The match kicks off at 3am on Friday morning (UK time) and comes after the hotly-anticipated curtain-raiser between and in Mexico City.

Koubek will have hoped for a smoother run-up to the game than the one that included a stranded bus and a long walk to training.

The 74-year-old is hoping to deliver a feel-good run for the fans back home, in the Czech Republic’s first World Cup appearance since 2006.
