Officers were called to the Oakland City Station in Atlanta just after 12pm on Saturday after a reported knife attack.
An injured woman was treated at the scene but later died from her injuries.
She has not yet been publicly identified but cops confirmed they arrested a suspect at the station.
“This appears to be a senseless act of violence, and our thoughts are with the victim’s loved ones and those who witnessed this horrific incident,” Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority (MARTA) officials said.
No further details about the suspect or any charges being filed against them have been released.
But it comes just days after another MARTA train user was stabbed multiple times at the Georgia State Station on May 24.
Riders are now fearing for their lives and have lashed out at a new MARTA policy for contributing to the terrifying spate of violence.
“It’s crazy, just need more security for real. Watching everywhere,” one rider told Fox Atlanta.
“They really need to block it off where homeless people can’t come in because it’s getting bad out here.”
MARTA recently introduced a fare switch allowing people to access the stations and trains for free.
