FLICKING through her holiday snaps, Megan Stiles smiled as she was transported back to all the places she’d visited.

A selfie by and another snap of her enjoying a pizza in were just some of the memories of the whirlwind trip.

But while her photos suggested she had been away for a week long trip, Megan had only left the UK that morning.

Megan and best friend Romany Coppola enjoyed a all for less than a pricey London theatre ticket.

The friends flew from on 12 May, boarding a 6.10am flight to Verona which cost just £38 each for a return.

They drove to the airport and paid £30 for parking.

After landing shortly after 9am local time, the pair decided to hop on an unlimited £10 bus to Lake Garda.

The friends spent the morning exploring, shopping for souvenirs and soaking up the sunshine around the picturesque lakeside town.

They stopped for lunch, where Megan, 23, enjoyed an £8 while Romany, 22, opted for a £13 penne arrabbiata.

They spent a further £20 on drinks.

After exploring Lake Garda, the pair travelled to Verona on a £6 bus, spending the afternoon wandering through the historic Italian city before eventually heading back to the airport late that evening.

“I’ve done a few day trips before, and saw how cheap it was to Verona so as a lover of pasta and pizza, I couldn’t turn it down,” Megan, from Colchester, Essex, says.

“I love Italy.

“Overall, including souvenirs I spent about £120.

“It’s by far cheaper than me getting on a train to London and doing an activity.

“We only planned to go to Verona but we heard a man on the plane ask if the lake we were flying over whilst landing was Lake Garda and the cabin crew said it’s not too far.

“We realised we could take the bus from outside the airport.

“I didn’t expect to go to Lake Garda but that definitely made it the best experience.

“It was so fun to explore a new city, two in one as my friend would like to say, in one day.

“Not many people are able to, I’m very lucky and a very tired girl.”

They returned to Stansted just before midnight UK time after catching a 10.50pm flight home from Verona.

Despite clocking up an exhausting 25,000 steps in a single day, Megan said the trip was “100% worth it”.

She says: “I loved this day trip.

“It was by far the best.

“I loved it so much, I’ve booked to go back.”

Megan says friends and family were stunned by the whirlwind itinerary.

She added: “Everyone said we were mad, even the people sat next to me on the plane.

“My family can’t quite believe I travelled that much just in one day.

“It was such an experience walking around and exploring, however after 25,000 steps, on that plane home I was shattered.”
