The Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), Gen. Christopher Musa, has cautioned that anyone undermining the sovereignty and unity of Nigeria will be regarded as an adversary of the state.
Musa delivered this warning on Tuesday in Birnin Kebbi, while addressing the General Assembly of the Northern Traditional Rulers’ Council (NTRC), themed: “Kebbi 2025: Strengthening Community Collaboration for Lasting Peace and Security in Northern Nigeria.”
He reaffirmed the dedication of the Armed Forces of Nigeria to protect the nation’s territorial integrity and urged all Nigerians to come together in preserving its peace and stability.
“Anyone found engaging in any negative actions against the government and the sovereignty of Nigeria is an enemy of the state, and we will pursue such individuals,” Musa stated.
The CDS praised the Sultan of Sokoto and other northern traditional leaders for their ongoing efforts in fostering peace, unity, and stability in the region.
“We recognize the essential role of our traditional rulers as guardians of values and morality.
“They are crucial to our collective initiatives in ensuring stability in the North and throughout the country,” he remarked.
Musa characterized traditional rulers as the cornerstone of governance and the primary link between the government and the populace.
He stressed that peace and security cannot simply be imposed; they must be cultivated through trust, dialogue, and collaboration among communities, security forces, traditional institutions, and civil society organizations.
