WAFCON 2024: Super Falcons stay top of Group B after Algeria beat Botswana

Nigeria ended the first round of group matches at the ongoing Women’s Africa Cup of Nations top of Group B.

This follows Algeria’s narrow 1-0 win over Botswana on Sunday.

Ghoutia Karchouni’s finish in the 10th minute proved to be the winner for the North Africans.

Algeria will take on Tunisia in their second group game on July 10.

The Tunisians were thrashed 3-0 by a dominant Super Falcons side earlier on Sunday.

Asisat Oshoala, Rinsola Babajide and Chiwendu Ihezuo all scored for the nine-time champions.

These results mean the Falcons have three points, but with a superior goal difference to Algeria.

Botswana occupy third spot, while Tunisia are bottom.
