WAFCON 2024: Rumours of Oshoala’s retirement swirl ahead of Super Falcon’s semi-final

Rumours that Super Falcons forward, Asisat Oshoala, has announced her retirement from international football took over social media on Monday.

Oshoala was purportedly said to have decided to hang up her boots ahead of Tuesday’s semi-final clash against South Africa at the ongoing Women’s African Cup of Nations.

However, a former media officer of the Super Eagles, Colin Udoh, has now debunked those stories.

“Everything was sketchy from the beginning,” Udoh said in a video on his X page.

“Asisat is too smart to make that announcement the day before a decisive game for Nigeria at the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations.

“And it wasn’t on her official pages either.

“When it’s time for Asisat to announce her retirement, she will do it in a much smarter way.

“So, whatever you’ve seen today, it is a rumour. Ignore it.”
