FANS of unique getaways will love this converted Victorian train carriage with breathtaking sea views.
Nestled in the ‘UK’s only desert’, Sunray by Bloom Stays is a converted Victorian train carriage sat on

According to The Times: “When the train line to Dungeness closed in 1937, some fishermen started to use the old train carriages as both shelters and homes.
“The three-bedroom Sunray incorporates one of these carriages in a particularly beautiful way, using barrelled ceilings and panelling and partnering them with a commercial kitchen.”
The cosy stay features a living room, french doors that open onto the shingle beach, and space for up to eight people to sleep across three bedrooms.
And it is pet-friendly, so your beloved pooch doesn’t need to miss out on the step back in time.
As you venture inside, there is a large open plan living space with areas centered around original features of the carriage.
Families can snuggle in the nook with a two-seat sofa and a mini pool table.
Or head to the sitting room, where you’ll find the TV, with comfy sofas and chairs.
When it comes to eating, there is a dining area behind the carriage that looks out over the sea, complete with a wood burner and large wooden table.
The kitchen area can be found at the other end of the carriage, with just enough space to dance while cooking up a meal.
Two of the bedrooms sleep two people each, and one bedroom sleeps up to four people with bunk beds for kids.
When the weather is nice, guests can enjoy a large terrace with garden furniture facing the and sea.
Despite the carriage originating from the 19th century, it does have all the mod cons you’d want during a stay, including Wi-Fi, electric heating, a hairdryer and running water.
But if you do fancy scrapping gadgets during your stay, the carriage also has a number of board games, children’s toys and books.
For an added special touch, freshly baked breads, pastries and beers can be delivered to the carriage before arrival from the local Dockers Bakery.
One recent guest said: “The bungalow is beautifully furnished, with a unique and quirky style that perfectly reflects the location.
“The remote setting is incredibly relaxing, and the views of the shingle beach (and the nuclear power stations!) are simply stunning.”

The train carriage is located on Dungeness Estate, with a large shingle beach often considered to be the UK’s only desert due to its barren landscape and dry micro-climate.
Though, the officially debunked this in 2015, explaining how the location lacks extremely low rainfall and day-to-night temperature differences which it would need to be classed as a desert.
Visitors can also head from one carriage to another by exploring the miniature steam trains that run from Hythe, New Romney and
Bloom Stays recommend heading to the renowned Snack Shack too, at the Dungeness Fish Hut – a cute spot that often barbecues the daily catch.
For anyone wanting to stay at Sunray, it doesn’t come cheap however, costing around £1,015 for two nights (minimum stay).
You can also stay in the where you spend the night on a historic replica ship in a seaside town.
Plus, these are the – from a gingerbread house to a disused aeroplane.
