Unity Cup: Super Eagles clash not a friendly – Ghana coach Addo

Published on May 27, 2025 at 04:30 PM

Black Stars of Ghana head coach Otto Addo says his side’s Unity Cup fixture against eternal rivals Nigeria is not a friendly affair.

The West African giants will rekindle their rivalry at the Gtech Community Stadium, Brentford, on Wednesday night.

The Super Eagles defeated Ghana 2-1 when both teams met in a friendly in Marrakech, Morocco last year.

Otto declared that his team will go all out for a win this time around.

“I think everyone knows what it’s about, surely, it’s a friendly game, but it’s not really a friendly game,”;; he was quoted on the Ghana Football Association (GFA) website.

“So yeah, we know what it’s about, and we want our people to be proud of us, and we want our people to talk from a certain perspective, and surely, it’s always about who has the better team. And sometimes margins can decide the outcome of the game.”;;

Wednesday’s encounter will kick-off at 7:00 pm Nigerian time.
