Chelsea manager, Enzo Maresca, has stated that his team needs to enhance their defensive performance after securing a 1-0 victory over Benfica in the UEFA Champions League on Tuesday.

Maresca noted that the Blues have allowed three goals in their last three matches, which is an issue they must address moving forward.

It is worth mentioning that an own goal by Richard Rios led to the Premier League club's win against Benfica at Stamford Bridge.

In his post-match interview, Maresca commented: “The effort was commendable.

“In the first half, I believe we performed better than in the second half, particularly in how we managed possession and created opportunities.

“In the second half, we fell short. Over the last two or three games, we have conceded two or three goals, which is unacceptable. We need to improve defensively, but achieving a clean sheet is a positive outcome.”

Chelsea's next challenge will be against Liverpool in the Premier League this weekend.
