Liverpool legend, Jamie Carragher has revealed that Arsenal are worse than Chelsea and Liverpool at selling players during the transfer window.
Carragher spoke after Arsenal recently defeated Athletic Bilbao 2-0 in the UEFA Champions League on Tuesday night.
Arsenal had spent over £250m during the summer transfer window to sign players like Viktor Gyokeres, Noni Madueke, Martin Zubimendi and Eberechi Eze.
Some players also left the Gunners during the summer transfer window, but Mikel Arteta’s side raised less than £20m selling those players.
Recall that Jorginho and Thomas Partey both left Emirates Stadium on free transfers at the end of their Arsenal contracts.
Similarly, Reiss Nelson, Oleksandr Zinchenko and Fabio Vieira all left Arsenal on loan.
“When you look at Arsenal’s team and squad, it is what you expect to see at Real Madrid or PSG. Arsenal have to go really, really close this season, [to win major trophies like EPL and Champions League],” Carragher said on CBS Sports.
“In terms of Mikel Arteta you’ve to look at the spending. I know Liverpool have spent a lot more this summer, no doubt.
“But in terms of a club Arsenal don’t sell well, they don’t sell any players. Liverpool and Chelsea do, they bring a lot of money in to give them the chance to spend big.”
