TWO more children’s arts and crafts kits have been pulled from shelves over fears they contain asbestos.
The retailers has urged owners of the sets to stop using them immediately, and keep out of the reach of children.

Both the Galt Sand Stickers Craft Kit and the HTI Toys Fun Sand Art Bottle Kit have been pulled from shelves after they were found to contain trace levels of .
These two sets join 137 other children’s toys and craft boxes urgently recalled for containing the banned substance over the past six months.
Galt’s Sand Stickers Craft Kit was found to pose a as the coloured sand included in the set may be contaminated with small quantities of asbestos.
The , containing six animal stickers, four bags of play sand and a guide, were sold between February 2023 and September 2024, originating from China.

This is not the first recall that James Galt & Company Limited has had to make in recent months – in April, the was pulled from shelves, previously sold in John Lewis, Hobbycraft, and more.
HTI Toys Fun Sand Art Bottle Kit becomes the 40th item by the brand to be recalled for containing trace levels of asbestos.
The UK-based manufacturer of toys has only previously seen recalls for their range of stretchy figurines, which contained sand to give them their squishy texture.
Inside, the kit includes bags of contaminated colored sand, recalled by Curious Minds and its brick-and-mortar shop, Grasshopper Toys in Helensburgh, Scotland.
No specific sales date range has been provided for the affected batch.
For any toy that is suspected to contain , it is urged to stop using the product immediately.
If the contaminated sand is still in its packaging, it must be placed in a heavy-duty plastic bag, secured with double tape, labelled, and stored out of the reach of children.
When the sand has been opened, clean up sites where the product was used with wet cloths, to avoid generating dust – this should be done wearing globes and a mask, that must also be of securely.

Galt has advised customers to return the craft set to the retailer where it was purchased for a full refund, and if the product cannot be returned, to contact their local authority for advice on safe asbestos disposal.

It has been illegal to import, export, sell, or use all forms of asbestos in the UK since 1999 because the carcinogenic substance is harmful even in small quantities.
All forms of fibres are hazardous to humans, and can induce cancers and other lung-related illnesses following inhalation exposure.
