Troops foil kidnap attack, neutralise several terrorists in Borno

Published on May 07, 2025 at 06:40 PM

Troops of Operation Hadin Kai, deployed at Izge, in the early hours of today, 7 May 2025, successfully repelled a terrorist attack on their location. Scores of insurgents were neutralised, and eight of their combat enablers were captured.

Captain Reuben Kovangiwa, acting Deputy Director, Army Public Relations, Headquarters Theatre Command, Operation Hadin Kai, stated that during the prolonged firefight, the gallant troops exhibited exceptional resolve and professionalism, resulting in the neutralisation of numerous terrorists, while the remainder fled in disarray.

Pursuing the retreating insurgents, the troops neutralised over seven additional miscreants, many of whom were seen fleeing with gunshot wounds.

Items recovered include one motorcycle, ten bicycles, and a PKT automatic machine gun with ammunition belts. Another attempted assault at Mallamfatori was similarly foiled, with devastating consequences for the terrorists.

The theatre commander commended the troops for their bravery and charged them to sustain the momentum to ensure a terrorist-free environment.
