Troops of Operation Safe Haven have destroyed suspected terrorist hideouts and recovered arms during a fighting patrol in Yankari forest and surrounding areas of Alkaleri Local Government Area of Bauchi State.

A counter-insurgency and security expert in the Lake Chad region, Zagazola Makama, made this disclosure on X

He said that the operation was carried out at about 5:30pm on March 20 by troops of 33 Artillery Brigade as part of ongoing efforts to clear criminal elements from the area.

According to him, the troops conducted a sweep of the forest and identified several hideouts and staging areas used by suspected terrorists.

“During the operation, troops successfully destroyed the identified hideouts and neutralised the threat within the general area,” he said.

He added that items recovered during the operation included two dane guns.

Makama noted that the operation was aimed at denying terrorists freedom of action and restoring security in the forested areas of the state.
