Transfer: We need him – Obi Mikel advises Chelsea to sign Trubin

Published on June 30, 2025 at 08:46 AM

John Obi Mikel, former Chelsea midfielder, has urged the Blues to sign Benfica’s Anatoliy Trubin this summer transfer window.

Obi Mikel insisted that Enzo Maresca’s side currently need Trubin ahead of the upcoming new season.

He spoke following Chelsea’s recent 4-1 win against Benfica in the Club World Cup last-16 encounter.

Speaking on DAZN, the former Nigeria international said: “Again another mistake from [Anatoliy ] Trubin.

“We talked about him before the game. He has had a brilliant tournament so far.

“I still think we [Chelsea] need to get Trubin,”; he stated.

At the moment, Chelsea have four goalkeepers Filip Jorgensen, Mike Penders, Djordje Petrovic and Robert Sanchez.

The Premier League west London club are expected to allow two goalkeepers out of the four to leave the club this summer in search for more game-time.
