Arsenal legend, Martin Keown has hailed the club’s pursuit of Sporting CP striker, Viktor Gyokeres.
He welcomed the move, saying the Gunner’s goalscoring problem would be a thing of the past.
Keown told talkSPORT that the striker was a good option to lead the Gunners attack and exactly what Mikel Arteta needed.
The Gunners legend noted that the club is in dire need of a striker, which most of their followers believe was the reason for their failure to win the Premier League title despite coming so close in the last two or three seasons.
“This guy [Gyokeres] you know is rock solid, you can play the ball into him, he holds it up well, he has pace, power and I think he’s quite emphatic in front of goal,”; he said.
According to him, a striker like Gyokeres is exactly what Mikel Arteta’s team is lacking at the moment.
Arsenal is said to have already reached personal terms with the Sporting CP man after the Portuguese side initially refused to let him leave.
Football transfer expert, Fabrizio Romano, reported yesterday that the striker is willing to take a pay cut to push for the move.
