Liverpool might abandon their big to sign Alexander Isak from Newcastle United, as they are not preparing to submit another offer for him.
The Magpies rejected the Premier League champions’ opening bid for Isak.
On Friday, the Reds submitted a bid worth up to £110m, which is well below Newcastle’s £150m valuation of the player.
ESPN reports that the nature of Newcastle’s rejection was such that Liverpool feel presenting a second bid at this juncture would be pointless.
However, that could change if the Tyneside club are able to bring in Isak’s replacement this summer.
Isak is currently training alone at his former club Real Sociedad, as he continues to stay after from Newcastle’s tour of Asia.
He missed last weekend’s match against Arsenal in Singapore and another game against a K-League XI.
