Rio Ferdinand, former Manchester United defender, has called on the club to ‘break the bank’ and sign Carlos Baleba from Brighton this summer.

Ferdinand insisted that the Cameroonian is Man United manager Ruben Amorim’s type of player.

He stated this on his Rio Ferdinand Presents YouTube channel.

“I want one more [signing for Man United], I want a striker and if I don’t get a striker, I’d go midfield,” Ferdinand said.

“He is an [Ruben] Amorim-type player as well. Physically, he’s great. He can drive with the ball.

“He can take it in all areas, very good tactically, great energy, Premier League experience, central midfield...Baleba.

“That’s who I’d go and get, that’s the one I would go and get. I’d go and break the bank.”
