“Obviously, it will serve her career as now 8 millions people know she is a published author and if only 1% of these go and buy her books that will still be 80,000 copies.”

Another poster replied: “My vibe was that she wanted to make the jump to something more like one of those “historic crime” shows.

“You know, where they tell the story of the crime. The way she was talking in the questioning had a real vibe of one of those shows where they’re like “and then the victim made a fateful mistake, turning into the alleyway”.

A second said: “100% and they played it fantastically. She won’t be forgotten quickly, and that will change into sales.

“She’s already made more money this way than trying to win.”

While a third added: “On paper tonight sounds like a classic Traitors episode but it just felt off to me and this is why – it felt like Harriet was putting on a performance where she didn’t care if she banished Rachel or got herself banished, she just wanted to get a lot of screen time and some big moments to help promote her book.

“TV shows start to go downhill when people are applying for them for the opportunities that come afterwards rather than the show itself, I hope this isn’t the start of a trend.”

A fourth said: “It ruins the game having someone on like that. She clearly cared more about the publicity than winning.”

However, a fifth explained: “I got the impression she genuinely liked the deductive side of the game and cared more about being right (and being seen to be right) than about actually winning.

“Not sure she needs or wants the publicity given that she’s already pretty wealthy.”

Harriet practised as a criminal barrister for nearly ten years, before changing her career path to writing .
