TODAY executives are preparing for Savannah Guthrie to step away for a second time as her mother’s abduction takes an emotional toll on her, insiders have exclusively told The U.S. Sun.

Today lead anchor Savannah, 54, is reeling from a in her mom Nancy’s abduction case.

On June 23, reports surfaced that one of the sent to ‘s family indicated that their beloved mother was dead.

The anchor that morning, begging anyone to come forward with any information regarding her mother’s disappearance.

“Everyone at NBC is terrified for Savannah. She’s holding it together now, but every new development feels like another punch to the heart,” a source exclusively told The U.S. Sun.

“No one should have to deliver the morning news while living through a nightmare like this.

“The emotional toll is becoming impossible to ignore.”

The source claimed the higher-ups understand Savannah may need to cope with her heartbreak over her mother, who .

“Executives are quietly preparing for every possibility,” the source explained.

“They hope Savannah keeps working, but they also know she may need to step away without a moment’s notice.

, who filled in as lead anchor opposite during Savannah’s first leave of absence, is ready to jump in if need be.

“if Savannah needs her, she’ll be in that chair immediately,” the insider added. “There wasn’t a second of hesitation.”

Savannah was away from the morning show on June 26 and June 29, with one insider claiming the .

Her co-host Craig was also off from work both days. The two lead news anchors are rarely off at the same time, the insider noted.

The U.S. Sun reached out to Today for comment.

Piling on her plate, Savannah is also this summer with producer Jimmy Fallon.

And she’s a hands-on mom to her kids Vale, 11, and Charley, 9 with husband Michael Feldman.

Over four months after Nancy’s abduction, the FBI and the Pima County Sheriff’s Office are still actively investigating the case.

Recently, a volunteer search group called Buscando Corazones started looking in about where Nancy might be buried.

The group’s leader, Ramona Guadalupe Ayala Ortiz, said Nancy could be buried in a hidden grave near El Mariposo.

However, those search efforts have .

Law enforcement has been looking for Nancy ever since she disappeared in the early morning of February 1, just hours after her son-in-law dropped her off at home.

A small break in the investigation came days later when officials found security footage from the property.

The standing right outside her front door on the night she went missing.
