Tinubu’s visit to Abia postponed as state shifts road commissioning, medical city flag to June

President Bola Tinubu’s scheduled visit to Abia State on May 23 for the commissioning of Port Harcourt, road Aba and flag off Abia Medical City has been shifted to early part of June by the state government.

The Commissioner for Information, Okey Kanu, who announced this on Tuesday, said the shift in the program was as a result of the tight schedule of President Tinubu.

Kanu who read out the outcome of this week’s executive council meeting presided over by Governor Alex Otti, however said that the wife of the President, Remi Tinubu would be in Abia on May 23 to launch her humanitarian project.

The Commissioner also said that all staff of Ogbonnaya Onu Polytechnic (formerly Abia State Polytechnic) Aba whose promotion were withheld since 2008, have now been promoted by the State government while payment of their withheld salaries have commenced.

He further announced that Abia the National Universities Commission, NUC has approved full accreditation of Law, Agriculture, Mass Communication , Educational Management and Planning in Abia State University, Uturu even as he said that State and governing council of ABSU have approved the employment of more lecturers to fill vacant positions.

On the recent suspension of the former Rector of Abia State College of Education Technical Arochukwu, Professor Vincent Onwe, the State government announced that a Panel has been set up to investigate his activities.
