President Bola Tinubu will travel to Jos, the capital of Plateau State, on Saturday to attend a funeral.

This information was shared in a statement by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, on Friday in Abuja.

“President Tinubu will leave Lagos for Jos to participate in the funeral prayers honoring Nana Lydia Yilwatda Goshwe,” he stated.

Onanuga highlighted that Mama Lydia was the mother of the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, Professor Nentawe Yilwatda Goshwe.

He also mentioned that Tinubu would address church leaders from across the North at the Church of Christ in Nations (COCIN) headquarters in Jos.

According to him, the President will return to Lagos the same day after his engagements.

Earlier, Tinubu had conveyed his condolences to Professor Yilwatda following the death of his mother at the age of 83.

He characterized Mama Lydia as “a woman of virtue who dedicated her life to faith, service, and community.”

The President encouraged the APC Chairman to accept the loss as God’s will and find solace in her legacy.

He prayed for her soul's peace and asked God to provide the family with the strength to endure this painful loss. Yilwatda was elected as the national chairman of the party in July.

Tinubu’s upcoming visit comes after his previous condemnation of the ongoing violence in Plateau State earlier this year.

In April, he condemned an attack in the Bassa Local Government Area that resulted in over 50 fatalities and the destruction of homes.

He extended his sympathies to Governor Caleb Mutfwang and urged a strong political commitment to restore lasting peace to the affected communities.

“Love and unity must transcend religious and ethnic divisions,” Tinubu stated, calling on leaders to put an end to cycles of retaliatory violence.
