Asari Dokubo, the Amanyanabo of Torusarama Piri in the Degema Local Government Area of Rivers State, has committed to supporting the re-election of President Bola Tinubu in 2027 for a second term.
Dokubo made this commitment on Tuesday during a visit from the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, at his palace in Degema.
Expressing appreciation for Wike's visit, Dokubo noted that Tinubu had stood by him during challenging times, emphasizing that it was now time to reciprocate the support.
“As you mentioned, my friend, I will be there to ensure that my friend, the President, achieves success in his endeavors,” he stated.
“I will do everything within my power to ensure his success.”
“When we first met in 1992, I was not yet a traditional ruler. I never imagined I would become who I am today.”
“He supported me during my most challenging moments, and now it is my turn to stand by him and offer my support,” he added.
Earlier, Wike explained that his visit to the community was to express gratitude to the people for their support and to encourage them to back Tinubu in 2027.
He also mentioned that the visit was an opportunity to wish the community a happy New Year and thanked Dokubo for his warm hospitality.
“I understand that traditional rulers typically do not engage in politics.”
