The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Plateau State has raised concerns regarding an alleged plan to attack the party's National Chairman, Nentawe Yilwatda, during an event scheduled for Sunday.

In a statement released by the state's Acting Publicity Secretary, Shittu Bamaiyi, the party asserted that it had discovered a scheme by certain individuals to mobilize thugs to assault the National Chairman during the Gindiri Old Students' Reunion Service in Gindiri town, located in the Mangu Local Government Area of the state.

The party alleged that those behind the purported plot were convening at a private residence in Jos to finalize their plans for the attack.

“As part of the strategy, three buses have been arranged in each of the 20 electoral wards in Mangu to transport thugs to the Gindiri Missionary Compound, where they intend to embarrass the National Chairman and his team,” the statement further noted.

According to the party, unverified reports suggest that some thugs will also be stationed at the Gindiri Roundabout.

Bamaiyi added that journalists from both within and outside Plateau State are being mobilized to create the impression that the citizens of Plateau harbor disdain for the National Chairman.

“In light of this troubling development, the APC, as a law-abiding political party, is urgently calling on security agencies to investigate the situation to prevent any breakdown of law and order,” he stated.

The party also urged its supporters to remain peaceful and law-abiding despite the alleged provocations.
