Former Governor of Ekiti State, Ayodele Fayose, has disclosed that three additional governors elected under the banner of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) will soon be resigning from the party.
Fayose shared this information on Wednesday during an interview on Politics Today, a program aired on Channels Television, as reported by DAILY POST.
This announcement comes in the wake of the recent resignation of Bayelsa State Governor, Douye Diri, from the PDP.
The two-term governor indicated that the opposition party might soon be left with only five governors, as ongoing internal conflicts continue to trouble its ranks.
“Let me inform you, there are three more governors who will depart shortly. Only five will remain. Among the five, one will struggle to secure the ticket, and they all understand that the ticket is merely a piece of tissue paper,” Fayose stated.
The vocal former governor accused certain PDP governors of undermining the party's strength due to their ambitions to dominate its structure.
“They are significantly damaging the party because they wish to control it. This was the situation in 2023,” he added.
