The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, stated on Wednesday that those who accused him of undermining the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) have now defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Wike expressed that they should appreciate him for paving the way by supporting President Bola Tinubu’s administration.

Recently, several PDP leaders, including Governor Peter Mbah of Enugu State and former National Youth Leader of the party, Sunday Udeh-Okoye, have joined the APC.

During an appearance on Channels Television’s Politics Today last night, Udeh-Okoye mentioned that the Southeast has found a place within the APC.

While he was still with the PDP, Udeh-Okoye had contended for the position of the party’s National Secretary against Samuel Anyanwu, a close associate of Wike.

Nonetheless, Wike noted that the defectors are collaborating to support Tinubu’s administration.

Wike made these remarks at the inauguration of the construction of the main carriageways of the Outer Southern Expressway (OSEX), extending from Ring Road I Junction to Ring Road II Junction along Wasa Road, near the Shoprite Junction in the Apo area of the FCT.

Wike stated: “It has never been like this before; regardless of party affiliation, everyone has always worked together to support this administration.

“I’m very pleased that I will soon address Nigerians. I have been observing on various television channels and social media the claims that I aim to destabilize the party. I’m supporting the APC, and now they are all in the APC.

“Therefore, they should commend me for working towards their current direction; I deserve recognition for my contributions.”
