Former Kogi West Senator, Smart Adeyemi, has stated that the terrorists attacking the nation receive both local and international support.
Senator Adeyemi shared this insight during an interview on ‘Politics Today’, a program on Channels Television that was monitored by DAILY POST.
He noted that the terrorists have operatives within the country.
“They ensured they became sufficiently strong, and it is important to remember that these terrorists undoubtedly have individuals supporting them both domestically and abroad,” he remarked.
“They were observing the direction of the Asiwaju government, which made several bold decisions aimed at elevating Nigeria to a new level,” he added.
He mentioned that during the campaign period, incidents of violence decreased because the terrorists were relocating in large numbers to the country's forests.
He also emphasized that there are individuals within the system acting as agents for the terrorists.
He claimed that when the service chiefs were being replaced, they were fully aware that the terrorists were strengthening their operations.
According to the former lawmaker and chairman of the Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ), insecurity in Nigeria has persisted for two decades.
