Bandits have assaulted Unguwar Tsamiya in Faruruwa village and the Dabawa community, both located in the Shanono Local Government Area of Kano State, abducting at least 25 residents and injuring two individuals.

The incident took place on Sunday night, just a day after a separate attack on Yan Kamaye in Tsanyawa LGA, another community near the Katsina border.

This information was shared on Monday by Bakatsine, a journalist specializing in conflict and crisis reporting, who covers insecurity in Nigeria’s northwest region.

Bakatsine raised concerns about the effectiveness of the peace agreement with bandits in Katsina State, particularly in the local government areas that border Kano State.

He stated: “SAD NEWS: Last night, bandits targeted Unguwar Tsamiya in Faruruwa village and the Dabawa community, both within Shanono LGA of Kano State. Two individuals were injured, and at least 25 residents were abducted. This incident occurred less than 24 hours after a similar attack on Yan Kamaye in Tsanyawa LGA, another community adjacent to Katsina State.

“Given these ongoing attacks, one cannot help but question: What is the true value of the peace agreement in Katsina State, especially in the LGAs that border Kano State?”
