A TERRORIST who orchestrated the 7/7 bombings is poised to be released after over £33,000 of taxpayer money funded his exit from a mental health facility.

Psychopath Haroon Aswat could be free at any moment after being authorized to leave a secure unit in London.

Public funds were allocated to lawyers who successfully argued for his release, despite ongoing concerns about his potential danger to public safety.

Documents obtained by The Sun indicate that his legal team received £30,168 from 2013 to 2022 for representation during a Judicial Review regarding his continued detention.

An additional £3,022 was paid to solicitors to successfully advocate for Haroon's release under the vague description of “patient is seeking discharge.”

He admitted to conspiring to attack the London transport system, which resulted in over 3,000 deaths in the US in 2001.

However, he will soon return to his family in Batley, without ankle monitoring, due to a loophole that prevents oversight of psychiatric patients.

Furthermore, inquiries under the Freedom of Information by The Sun revealed that the £33,000 is part of a total of £64,321.59 paid to lawyers defending him over the past two decades.

The fiend made headlines last month when The Sun reported that a judge wished him “all the best” after approving his release request.

Judge Sir Robert Jay incited public outrage during the hearing, where senior police officials warned that the fiend – who has previously stopped taking his medication – remained a significant threat.

A request by The Sun also confirmed that Aswat’s lawyers have received £64,321.59 of taxpayer money for his defense over the last 20 years.

Officials warned that costs linked to Aswat’s case could rise further, as the “billing process for publicly funded representation often takes several months to finalize.”

Aswat, who made threats against Christians, Jews, and Muslim adversaries as recently as 2022, will not be required to wear an ankle monitor due to his status as a mental health patient, which limits close supervision.

The radical associate of hook-handed hate preacher Abu Hamza was sentenced to 20 years in a US prison in 2015 for plotting to establish a terror training camp in Oregon but was deported back to the UK in 2022.

A spokesman for the Ministry of Justice stated: “Anyone facing a Crown Court trial is eligible for legal aid, subject to a strict means test.

“Legal aid is provided to legal representatives to ensure access to justice and, in criminal cases, to guarantee a fair trial.”
